In the feed and fuel industries, the process of combining powdered feed ingredients or powdered feed with water and heat, compressing them through a pellet mill, and forcing them through a ring die to form pellets is called pelleting. Below, I will introduce the pelleting process of a pellet mill.

During operation, the ring die rotates clockwise at a certain speed under the drive of a motor. As the conditioned material enters the pelleting chamber, it is fed into the working area, and the pressure rollers also begin to rotate clockwise due to the friction within the working area. With the rotation of the pressure rollers, the material moves forward more quickly, and the extrusion pressure and material density gradually increase. When the extrusion pressure increases sufficiently to overcome the friction between the material and the inner wall of the die, material with a certain density and binding force is forced into the ring die orifice. Due to the continuous rotation of the pressure rollers, material is continuously squeezed into the ring die orifice. Therefore, the material in the ring die orifice is continuously extruded after forming and cut by a cutter to form pelleted feed.
